we goin' places you never dreamed of
Sep. 30th, 2013 09:29 pmDespite being in Darrow for well over a week now, Lafayette still finds it uncomfortably cold -- uncomfortably seasonal -- in comparison to southern Louisiana. Still, he ain't ready to suck it up and buy a parka with a fur-lined hood or something, not yet, and he suffices by standing at the Darrow bus-stop tucked into a loosely woven women's button-down sweater which hangs nearly to his knees. He considers going for his cigarettes, just to pretend they can actually warm his ass up, but there's a young girl who's just come over, and he looks at her with a wobbly, chilly smile.
"You don't gotta stand all the way over there," he says, nodding toward himself. "Come over here so I can hide behind you. I can't this cold-ass breeze. Least it isn't raining. 'Cause that be just what the fuck I need."
